To you and yours

 :{mini pinny}::

 { to s}

{ slowly coming}

To complete S' sewing kit box I made a mini pincushion and added two fancy pins. It is exciting that the sewing kit box  is wrapped and sitting next to the Christmas tree. Today has been a busy day, spent the morning at S' school to watch a Christmas play and had lunch with her, best way to wrap up the last day of school with her together.

The garment is slowly coming, but I don't know if I will make it on time to put in the box and wrap it. For next few days, I will be off from this space as I promised S that we would hang out to sew, bake, walk, watch movies together. Sure will have a recap later..  I will come back later next week to show you S' kin-cha-ku bag and the hopefully the garment as well.

S and I wish you and yours have a wonderful Holiday Season~

Merry Christmas & Happy Holiday~

Best giving

 { To five little gentle souls}

It is hard to put today's post together. Many thoughts came cross my mind in last few days. I would love to share,  but I decided to keep this post simple. Yesterday, I read {Di} and {Maureen}'s post and discovered there's a {pillow case drive for Sandy Hook Elementary school } . When we came home last night, I started cutting fabric and finding coordinating prints to make pillow cases.  Finally, I decided to share with S the Sandy Hook Elementary school news.  It is a hard news to share with her. She was sad and asked if she could help out. She helped pinning the pieces together.  As I was sewing, S wrote a card and asked me to send along with the pillow cases.

Kerri has a fabulous and simple step pillow case{ tutorial here} or you can check on {Flickr}. It takes 3/4 yard for main print; 1/4 yard for cuff print and 2" wide for the trim.  If you have few minutes and able to sew up one or two pillow cases..  Please send to

Patchwork zippered Pouch and sew on

I am late!  S reminded me last night if I had finished the little pouch for her teacher. I totally put that aside of my mind for the weekend and week. I promised her last night I would finish it last night and have everything ready this morning. She was happy and thank me for it this morning..

The zippered pouch is made with 16 different prints that cut in 2"x 3.5". I used the tab on the zipper and really think this time it turns out better.  For the quilting part, I used the straight line to keep the clean look. The pouch finished at 8.5"x5.5", but didn't add the base width to it.  It would be great for some note pads and pens. I plan on go to the store and maybe find a small pad and pen to add to the gift.  S knitted the scarf for the puppy that she is going to give to her teacher. S added eyes and nose to the stuffed animal which turn out really cute!

While I was finishing up the movie last night.  I made another two mini pin cushions to go with the gifts that I made for my friends. They are actually from the scraps of the zippered pouch that I made last night.  Simple hand-quilting added a personal touch to the pinny.

I found these cut card board stock in the Michale's craft store yesterday. They are super great for simple gift wrapping.

It has been a great week to catch up works in school studio and delivered cookies to friends in town and had great visits with them! Everything is wrapped, only the S' garments are not in the box....oh dear..

May your day full of time to sew, to bake, to laugh..

Random: Monday

 { to j}

 {kin-cha-ku}

 { solid fabric}

 { they are alike}

 { monday}

{ patterns}

Monday mornings have gotten rough to wake up. The sun is no longer rise before 8a.m. and sets before 4p.m.  S often asked me why she goes to bed in the dark and wakes up in the dark. Of course in the summer time would be the reverse saying.  As she grows older she starts to understand the nature of our earth and the important of the four seasons function every year. She hopes to see the northern light before we move away and this winter would be our last chance.

Last week, I finished hand-quilting the new {kin-cha-ku} aka drawstring bag, but didn't manage to finish up, so I stayed up last night and finished up the assembling process.  It is going to give away to my friend. She has been a great supportive friend to us. Over this year, we have been swapping cookies and exchanged canned food. Oh, yes.. she is the friend who has the cat, Shoney.  I hope she will like it!

Finally I am onto S' garments making. I have been thinking how can I make it without her notice. I think I might need to sew little by little each night, so she won't find out till the day comes { wish me good luck}.

Start this week.. I decided to eat breakfast, the healthy kind. Normally two cups of dark coffee are my morning booster, but I think it hasn't been ideal to my body. Likely, I am eating something around 10 and something around 11.. then eating something around 2 p.m. None of the food is good and healthy.  Then the weight of  my body is going up up up... I need get back to the normal food eating habit, so healthy body will come to me.

Another busy week is ahead of us and let's keep busy in the kitchen, in the sewing room, and in the sharing of the holiday season~

Weekending

{ gift wrapping}

{S, the baker}

 {Cookies have been packed and ready to mail out}

{Music program was in action}

 { normally she catches me when I take photos of her, but not today}

 {Tai Curry for supper}

 {sugar cookies}

{ Not the fancy packing}

Two weekends in the row that we have been in and out most of the time. Finally, I am sitting down and just brew a pot of tea to catch up the {weekending} post.  I needed to confess that I haven't been sewing since made { Elise's Tote}. We have been living in the land of sugar, flour, butter, and eggs.  The oven heat has been great; cozy and warm!  We stuffed ourselves with the sweets before meal time. It is the month that we could have the excuse to have more sugar than we need.  A few gifts have been wrapped up, but still need to add to few things to the packages. It seems like they will be late for the delivery.

S has been a wonderful helper this year! She took over some baking job for me. Best of all, she is much taller than the kitchen counter this year. As this past Friday at the Doctor's office for S' annual check up. She is 3 inches taller than last year and gaining the right weight for her age { She has been below the average}. She can reach out far to the end and able to pick up the tools.  She gets to sample cookies when they came out from the oven.  December has always been a full month of music activities for S.  Each weekend of December month, she has been participating in the music programs and volunteer at the nursing home to play music. I am a so awfully proud mama!  It took S years to overcome to play in the public stage.  Today was at the public library and guess what? She came home with a stack of books!  She has been reading since and it has been a quiet night for me...

All the cookies have been packed and maybe a few kinds of cookies will be added to the box before send them away. I found packing cookies is hard. It seems like the plastic container is the way to go/ seal the cookies before they arrive the receiver's hands.  It might be a little late for this year, but I'd like to sew up a few recycle gift bags for next year.

Have you been baking? It has been a super busy weekending at {1/4" mark house}

Baby Patchwork Tote

Everything is slowing down finally! I am home today and tomorrow. It feels super great to caught up house cleaning and getting packages ready to mail out for the holiday. Slowly write cookie making list.  Last night, I finished a baby patchwork for {Elise}. Do you remember Elise, the baby girl ? She is almost one now! She is as healthy as she can be and very cute!

Kim and I were planning to have coffee after our finals, but she is leaving tomorrow morning to her parents house for the holiday. That means, {sew, sew, sew, as fast as I can}. This baby tote isn't hard to put together. I try to pick up some novelty prints for Elise, so she can have fun with it.

Each square is cut 5"x5" and total of 12 different prints. I joined the three 5"x5" pieces in a row then piece top row and bottom row pieces together.  For the quilting, I used the straight lines to keep it clean look.

 It would be super cute if Elise has a little friend that she can tuck inside to play with for a play date.
.
S helped me made this little pup. I didn't do as good job as S did!  This little pup is made with soft fabric that you can find in any Joann fabric store. Inside stuffed with Polyester fills .

{A little note tag to Elise, the baby}

Surely, it has been a crazy week. I am feeling a bit of resting today. Soon, I will depart to the Good Will store for donation some clothes and dish wares.
