Quilter has a table or maybe few tables around their sewing room. Each table has different purpose.
Quilter's table provides a sewing machine{s}, few rulers, a/box{es} of tools { you can name all of them}, stashes of fabric, trimmed off fabric, an iron... etc.
what's your table looks like, quilter?
edit: I have update the tutorial that I used for making the {quilting frame post}.

Mine cutting table looks ridiculously clean right now, because I just moved it back into my craft room from our bedroom. And the fabric I cut for my do.good Stitches blocks I put back in the closet right after I was done with them. I also have a few neat stacks of 5", 2.5", 2" and 1" squares next to my cutting square from cutting the leftover strips to scrap quilt sizes.
ReplyDeleteI do my best sewing at the kitchen table and cutting on the counter. I sew like crazy on Sunday, pile it back on the table, push it around all week, clean it Sunday morning and repeat. Oh I do have a craft room on the 2 nd floor but that never feels as good as the center of the house!
ReplyDeleteHere's my cutting table...

Normally I have a mat on it...maybe even the same one you have. I try to clean it off when I'm not using it. I don't like to pile a bunch of stuff on it, because it's really the only surface I have for cutting...and my kitchen table is so low it kills my back! I have some additions since taking this picture...a tiered wire rack that I have things setting on. It matches the spinning thing I improvised for my scissors and rotary cutters. Yay for cutting tables. =)
I am lucky enough to have two 6' rectangular tables in my sewing room, which is the second living room of our home. If I'm quilting a quilt the second table holds the quilt but if I'm not, then I use it for cutting, setting our fabric, etc. I love these tables - and the fact that they fold up when I need to have the room look pretty.
ReplyDeleteI usually have a project going; always have the sewing machine up, a lamp, and the supplies ready to be used when I get a chance, including the iron and board; it hangs on the door so I can remove it quickly! I home-school! and had busy kids. I can't wait to start doing some of your projects, but I must finish mine first!
ReplyDeleteI only have one desk in my sewing room which is used for my sewing machine and supplies. The desk in my sons room across the landing houses my cutting mat and rulers!
