Sound of Music
This week I finished two quilts! It was a little huslted when I was trying to finish them before this Tuesday. One of the quilt was bound off on Tuesday Morning. You probably didn't know that I had to run so many errands on the same day. It has been crazy, but good feelings!
There are many friendly people we have met and helped us out! There are people we stay in contact and truly build up the friendship with us. I can't image without these friendship how our life would have been! S has been with three piano teachers thus far! We are having an amazing and very talented piano teacher now! It is amazing how much time that she spends with S and challenging her as much as she could! She is also the kind of teacher hope their students {make music}! I waited a VERY long time to ask her what she is having! I was very shy to ask if she is expecting until her belly is out enough that I could ask. Then I found out she is having a baby girl a week ago when we went out and had coffee. Since we both teach in the university we have many common talks about classes and how do we handle different student situations. She is awesome! Since it was the final week, I couldn't do much about making the quilts! I waited finished my own finals then started this quilt!
The ticker tape quilt is {awesome}! Thanks to {Amanda Jean's }fabulous tutorial. I was able to finished it on the same night! The quilt finished in a fat quarter size! I am saving the other fqt. for S. While I was making she kept telling me how fun and pretty it is! I knew that means { mommy can you make one for KIKI}. I am sure I will make staying up and making another one before Sunday Morning comes.
the drum was less than 1" wide.
The ticker tape quilts goes to {Goldie}. It is a little retriever that S picked out to go with the quilt. I though it is very cute and fun! I am sure the little Goldie will enjoy her own quilt very much!
The baby quilt top original looks like above. Used lots scraps and patchwork look; very simple. The quilt top was on the sewing room wall for a few days, but I wasn't able to convince myself this a quilt top! I kept thinking, there is something missing! few days later..
The bottom squares are measured 2"x2". They are symbolic of the notes from the music. I think I made extra one! {C.D.E.F.G.A.B.}
I really felt in love with the simple color quilt lately! It is amazing how they actually stands out on its own more. The pink binding just help out the quilt a lot!
Both quilts and Goldie are in a new home now and I know they will be treasured and put in good use! This is one of the gift that needed time attention to work on! I am pleased with the quilts and more so the process of making the quilts!
Lately, I have been in love of making baby quilts. Today I just heard from a friend that they are expecting a baby next year! um.. I am already planning in my head about this quilt! It will be another surprise gift again. Making baby quilts allow me to treasure and celebrate the new life is/ will arrive and I am happy for my friends! Appreciate friends who extended their good friendships!

Random: Sometimes!
{Sometimes} when I have spare time in the afternoon before pick up S from school. I would drive myself to the local thrift stores. {Sometimes} I don't really have things to look, but { sometimes} I might have something that I hope that I can find such as the cups. Last week, when I was in one of the store I found this 2 and 3/4 yards hand-stitched cross stitch piece. It was marked at $2.97. I knew I have to save it right away! I am not big fan of the center eagle, but for all the labor work that someone put into: it is being appreciated from my heart and I {wow} in the store when I unfolded the piece. I plan on make it into a quilt and treasure it. {Sometimes} I feel such a lucky person that I get to save someone else work and honor all their good work. Whoever made this {thank. you.}. It has total of four panels and I plan to machine stitch the seams, so they are secure before put it into a quilt!
I am feeling {merry} as the holiday is getting closer! yes! I am still in my studio and being productive! S will be having a break from her music lessons and I will have a break from the drive! Lucky us, we haven't had any snow that stay on the ground, but wish some snow for the Christmas! Do you have { sometimes} days in your side of the world??

Wednesday: in and about
Finally I finished the bathrobe before noon, but I can't really show you yet! It will be another day or two?! The bathrobe took longer time than I anticipated! Made few mistakes on the pockets and also missed one instruction line. After the productive making and spacing I went out and thrifting this afternoon.! I have seen these Santa cups few weeks back when I went to the shop, but just didn't pick them up they were 24 cents each today and for the first time I looked through their book section and found some old books for 29 cents each! Initially I plan to spend $5 for the cups, but I ended up spend less than 4 dollars { score}. When I rush home and found a {big} present placed under the tree and it is for me! It must happened sometime last night when I was sewing like a storm! I can't wait to open it! Truly feel so special about this handmade gift! You probably don't know it took S a week to make. She only have 30 minutes each night to make it and I was asked not to peek!! It feels so good all the {TO-DO list} is down to

Nothing fancy around here today! I started gather some S' old toys and reminding myself how old these toys have been with us. Put up the quilt I made for her when she was 5. She would like to have it up for the holiday. Finished all the scarves! YES! you were seeing the crazy Dalmatians! She is mad about them. One of my never finish {TO-DO LIST} is making each one of them a doll quilt! The collection is growing each year and I am barely catch up with this gifts that were sent by our friends around the country.

Random: Are we there, yet?
It is a feeling of bustle and hustle and make everything happen in last minutes! It is a feeling of am I close to be finish everything on list? I waited another 30 minutes this morning in post office and it was 8:05a.m. the line was outside of the door already! My international package had to refilled a new form, so it was a bit hustle at the line! I felt bad that I could have had it done in the right way!
A baby quilt is nearly {completed}. I have tonight to get it quilted and bind off! I hope to make a doll quilt to go with this quilt! It is a surprise gift to a friend! I hope I didn't show too much of the surprise here!
S has been writing music! I can only read so many notes to be very honest with you! I learn my music from her! I hope that the college will open an intro piano class next fall. I wanted to learn the piano in the proper way! Although I have been sitting in S' piano lesson for 2 years; sometimes, I would have a sewing project in hand and totally neglected the sounds around me. I am crossing my fingers for that piano class!!! { It would be a great Christmas gift that I would like}.
Mr. Norfork Pine and Miss Poinsettia have join our family yesterday! My lovely friend Danni brought them over! Our family members are growing ever! We enjoy check on them and S reminded me that we needed to get new pots for them to settle in { Another TO-DO list}.
The bathrobe is still as it is! Hope I can get this sewn before the holiday arrives! I will surely show you how it turns out! Today is my last day to the studio. I will be working there for the rest of the day. Then I will start the {REAL} holiday sewing tomorrow! Are you having a bustle and hustle holiday {TO-DO list} on your side of the world? I decided to sit down and write the blog and sip my bitter/ cold coffee before head out for the day~

Alphabet Day: D is for
D is for Distance!
Not sure if this is the word that I am looking for, but I would like go with it! As a young student back in college. I have done a lot of travelings and was looking for {freedom}. As I am getting older, I realized the {space distance} between myself and families have becoming issues. I would love to be closer to families and friends NOW ! It would be great to spend weekend mornings with mom at the traditional market. It would be awesome to spend weekend nights with dad for some tasty local food. It would be so sweet to spend Saturday afternoons with my be loved sister in the local cafe. It would be crazy to spend some time with my girlfriends for some good girlfriend talks!
I recalled before I moved to U.S. again, my sister told me, {between Taiwan and U.S. is 7 c.m. on the map across}!! I put that measurement in my deepest heart and always remind myself. We are family and we will always be {t.o.g.e.t.h.e.r.}.
Here we are starting our little family away from the big family just like the big old tree that branch out. Slowly we will be reunion as we always do! Distance is just a {noun}, not a {verb}!
The oven just turn off and the last batch of cookies are done! They will be mail out tomorrow and hope they will sweet everyone's heart! I am sure it won't be there before Christmas, but it will still be appreciated! Are you having a great day on your side of the world? We had an amazing day here~
