The Triangle Pouch

Just like what S asked for, a triangle pouch on the sides and big! I used {10" zakka style zipper} for her pencil pouch and she picked the lock for the {zipper charm}.  No surprise with the special prints that she requested. It is really Big! She loves the size of it and feels great that finally she owes a pencil pouch that mama made her. She never have to asked one when we lived in states, since there was no need to bring pens and other supplies to school daily.  Over the years, S has received many nice pouches from friends who kindly made special pouches for S and mailed them to her. She keeps these special pouches for different usages likely to keep her special collections.

I used the bias-binding to bound off the seams allowances and it helps the pouch stands better and gives nice 3 dimension.  For the zipper ends, I sewn the small piece of fabric on then hand binding the sides to make nice closures. I love how this pouch turns out and I think I need to make one for myself soon.  The lining fabric didn't fuse onto interfacing, since it seems fit the pouch more flow without it.  The orange/yellow print fits nicely with the main print that S picked.

Today was the first full day school for S. She is overwhelmed with long school hours when she got home. She is slowly learning the differences. Surely there are challenges in this new chapter of her little life.  Like many of mamas, I crossed my fingers for S to have a good day when she leaves the house. There's always something that we need to learn. It is her time to take the lead of this new journey, since I can't be there for her, but I secretly wish do so.  S is loving Lucky comes to pick up her from school and boy, I think this little pup knows time to go pick up S. He has busy so quiet all day long till he picked up his friend.

Thank you for the sweet congrats on { #254 sewing shop}. Thank you so very much for your orders. I am so thrilled that so many of you have check into the sewing supplies.

Her mini case

It touches me so much that you came here and left us great and supportive comments. S and I read them together and she thinks she can do it. We have tried to be on our own as much as we can, so we can work on the projects/ studies in the slow mode. Our space is working so much better. A room with more space to play and rest. Best of all, during the mornings, she is back in reading mode and I am back in some sewing act.

Between our struggles and adjusting new life here. I tried to find time to sew.  From a few hours a day to a few hours a week. Some days just simple sketches on paper.  As long as I touch needle and thread I am delight and feel great! My sister finally decided to purchase an ipad. It took her a very long time to decided which version to purchase. That's how we sisters are different. She takes her time to do shopping, but I like to cross off my list as soon as possible.

When she purchased her mini ipad, S kept telling me,  Aunt Fifi needs an ipad cover and zippered pouch. Can you make them for her, mama? I show my sister mine and S', but she didn't like both of ours. So I made a quick sketch for her and show her the new idea. She likes it much better, but the only downside is that I missed count the width of the ipad by 0.25". That's why you see the little ipad is above the case. My sister didn't mind it, but I told her I'll try to make one for her again.

Since the new sewing machine I purchased is for basic sewing. I didn't dare to work so hard on the machine. Then I decided to go with hand-quilting for the mini case. Yes, so much better to hand-quilt everything. I took the finished front and back pieces while waiting  S at the swimming lesson. I sat there and slowly work on them. It was so so so so nice! The lesson is 80 minutes long and the waiting area comes nice cool air. I really have to take advantage on that time.

The front and back pieces are used many prints that I loved!  My sister didn't get to pick them out because I knew it would take very long time for her to decide what prints go in the mini case. The only part I let her pick is the wooden button, since I only had 10 of them, but it took her one afternoon to decide. oh very dear..

We plan go fabric shopping when the weather cools off. She is getting some fabric packs for me. I have few things in mind that I like to pick out.  It feels good that I can share a little sewing accomplishments with you ..   Have you been sewing?

Thank you, Kathy for sending me the scraps.. I used the moda print for the lining. It fits perfectly for the mini case.  I also used a few other prints of it..

{Thank you so much} for the sweet comments on the {soft and sweet girls}. I surely have enjoy the process of making them. The best part is seeing the mama and baby lambie came alive with lovely French knots. In the series of drawstring bag making there is a scrappy patchwork edition that  finished last week, but haven't get the chance to share with you.

These drawstring bags are really made {handmade by hand} special!  Not just because it is hand-quilted, but I am also careful on planning each process and do take great care of each step of the craftsmanship as a maker! The size is perfect for the patchwork/sewing tool storage. With the scrappy patchwork style it is one of a kind, which I treasure the idea of assembling and composing a new life to the scarps!

I have awarded that{mad in scraps} is taking over my sewing table lately! It is a perfect play and enjoy process. Of course, playing with colors and shapes makes me happy and enjoyable! How can I give up tiny scraps?  Save every small scraps of fabric is so important.. there are always what if the tiny scraps fit in the patch somewhere....  They are the kind of process of patchwork I have enjoy the most~  I know.. I've gone really { mad in scraps} almost. every .time. everyday. oh dear...  More {mad in scraps} is coming.. .... This drawstring bag has listed in the {shop}.

{Thank you} for the sweet comments on the { about hand-quilting post}. It has been fun to put up a informative post and to share with you. Thanks to S for taking majority of photos that have my hands in them. She did a great job for captured the movement! I'll for sure ask for her to take a photo of how I wear my thimble and update the post.

As you know that I have been into soft tone and pink lately! Maybe is the time of the year, I am ready to see colors other than brown. I have had an idea of making a set of kin-cha-ku aka {drawstring bag}. Alike the ones that I made for {S }and {myself}. The little lamb drawing done by S that near by my sewing space allowed me to start this new set of patchwork.

I have something soft, sweet, and woolie.. a bit of spring colors in mind! I used back-stitches for the lamb contour lines then added French Knots for the fur. The floss  I used was DMC 100% cotton and used either 2,4, and 6 flosses for the fur, French knots, so that make the lambs' looks more fun and the texture is really nice! The embroidery has added great texture on and makes it more unique in the way.
The inside is lined with 100% cotton without fusible interfacing.

For the bigger drawstring bag, I added message {be loving} above the lamb. For the small drawstring bag, the message is { be a star}. For sure, the designed was original set as a mother and daughter matchy bags. When S was much littler, I would try to find clothes that match, shoes that match together, still up today I still try to do so! make so! I love how her {kin-cha-ku} and {mine}are matchy. Her Mr. Rocky is always stuffed things and my Mr. Rocky is always stuffed with sewing related items. These two lambie girls for sure is sweet and soft. They both have added to the {shop}
