Random: weekending

Thank you so much for the encouragements of the Swoon quilt top . You are so sweet and nice! I have put the quilt top aside for now and will start quilting it once school is done in May. I am slowly working on the triangles that I cut off from the swoon quilt. I am hand-quilting it and plan on making a handbag from it. I have a few bag patterns are in mind, but thought I will finish the quilting part before I finalized the pattern. Today is very windy and cold in N.D. again. The weather report shows that we might have snow tonight. I crossed my fingers and wish just flurries. Whenever Stella visits my school studio she likes to drew or paint. Today she was there with me and she done a great job of herself portrait. I am in a rest mode this week.. just rest!

My {swoon} and your {swoon}

When I first started the swoon project. I knew that Katie Jump Rope by Denyse Schmidt would be the stash that I am going for. After a few days playing and laying them next to each other. I knew with this vibrate fabric line I needed to add some solid or calmer colors, but  won't take away the attention of the colors and prints.

I played around with Kona chart, but wasn't happy with just solid colors. I went to few online fabric shops and look for something that's fun. I came cross the painters canvas by Laura Gunn . I also have two prints that I ordered in the past and really like texture on the fabric.

Without hesitation I ordered 6 yards of the charcoal print because I was thinking that I could use it for other sewing project. I was right! I have wanted to take a step away from the white background for quilting. I have been wanting to try something out of comfort zone and glad to let you know that I am very satisfy with this quilt top.

The day when we took the photos  it was was a sunny and windy day. I could not be more than happy to catch most of the colors on this quilt top.

I think some of the other painter canvas that I included gave the settle feature to the quilt top piece.

I really like the center blue block! It was the first one that I made! I have a little affection on this. It took me 2 hours for the first two blocks then later on I was able to understand the process and it went faster than the first two.

Overall I am so happy with this quilt top! I think the pattern is simple to follow and the fabric quantity isn't overly estimate, but just right!  ( I caught the kid bike in the back, fun!)

Original plan was get quilted by  long-arm quilter, but I decided to quilt it by myself. I have been searching for my backing for a couple of days now. This quilt won't get finish until this semester ends. I would love to hand-quilt this piece, but I know.. it will take me a while again.  Once again! I CAN'T be more than happy to have my quilt number two ready to be quilted. I have been searching for quilt number three's fabric. My friend is turning a big 5-0. I want to make a cozy quilt for her birthday! I have a few month yet to get it done, but I know I only have this summer to do it before school starts for me in the fall again.  I have a little stash of the Katie Jump Rope in the shop if you are interested! Let me know if you came from this blog.

Loess Hill

We have had a wonderful Easter weekend up in Iowa. We have always been happy whenever we visited our friends there. It is much like home to us! We spent most our time outside at the park or backyards, and some good walk. The weather was perfect and friends are fabulous.  I took my sketch book with me and did some drawing while Stella was reading. We had many visits to our friends and lots great food! Of course I did some fabric shopping and my friend sent me some fabric home with me. I found some 30's reproduction prints up in a local store. I had only 10 minutes before the shop closed for the day. I also found two vintage baskets in an old antique store's basement. I felt lucky about the found. I'll get some photos later! I shall catch up with you later!

W.I.P.

I am in vacation mode!

We are taking our little get away trip tomorrow ! Haven't pack anything, but needed to do so before heading to bed. I have a mini goal for tonight! I'd like to accomplish this mini quilt  before we leave tomorrow. I plan to bring it with me and hand-quilt it during our get away, it will be relaxing.

The colors are so vibrate! I am a little bit nervous about the colors! It is off my comfort zone! No computer for me for next few days.  We'll enjoy good food, good friends, and good sleeps! We plan to be outside most of the time if the weather permits! It will be fabulous! It will be awesome! We don't celebrate Easter in our family, but I wish you have a great Easter week-end!

Cheers!

Random: days after days

hi! were you visiting this space last few days? sorry, I was gone, but around! I was busy with school works and dealing with some jobs problems! Emotionally sadden and struggled! Well, all it taken care of! I am feeling free and ready to start fresh again! Thanks to great chair in our department!

I was playing with my new camera lenses over the weekend. It is a 200mm lenses and it allows me to take long distance shot! I really love it! My friend is getting marry this summer.  I am so ready to be her wedding photographer and take some fun photos for her! The wedding will be held in the beautiful country side in Iowa. It will be a wonderful get away when the summer comes! "Summer, come sooner".

As you can see, while mama was busy, the little girl decided to take over the table and make something amazing and fun! Which she did! I can't wait to photography her project! Normally... well actually always we fight for the table space! Guess who wins?

Stella wrote me Christmas music to remind me how wonderful Christmas is about! It is always about joy and happiness! She really knows how to cheer her mama up when her mama is feeling down! She also play the music on her piano for me.

These green plants help us survived the winter. They lighted up our dark winter apartment and they are keep growing and being healthy! The south window is a great place for them! Do you have any indoor plants that you talk to everyday? I do! I spend my morning coffee by the window each day and try to wake my mind up!

Quilts are washed and tucked in the found vintage wire basket!  Finally our couch is back to setting mode! I am thinking make a new picnic quilt for this summer! I am thinking Habitat . I am also thinking about another Swoon quilt! um.. too many things that I'd love to play around!

I played with the fabric that I cut off from the swoon quilt. Yes! The swoon  quilt top is done, but I need to find a good day to photography it. It turns out fabulous! Vibrate colors and fun background. I plan to send my swoon quilt to a professional long-arm quilter! Any of you have good long-arm quilter could suggested to me?

It looks like it is going to be another cooler week here! Stella and I have a big get away trip coming up. I might not be here much again this week! I try to accomplish as much work as possible, but my energy level is a bit low and I want it back so bad, so the trip will help me out a lot!

Have a great week~
