Random: the mind setting

A refresh mind after a long holiday get away, I think this described me well! I changed my mind about the mini quilt. I was thinking something else this afternoon and decided to ripped the seams off and try something new.  I am indecisive and it bothers me! shall return with an answer later.. :)

Loess Hill

We have had a wonderful Easter weekend up in Iowa. We have always been happy whenever we visited our friends there. It is much like home to us! We spent most our time outside at the park or backyards, and some good walk. The weather was perfect and friends are fabulous.  I took my sketch book with me and did some drawing while Stella was reading. We had many visits to our friends and lots great food! Of course I did some fabric shopping and my friend sent me some fabric home with me. I found some 30's reproduction prints up in a local store. I had only 10 minutes before the shop closed for the day. I also found two vintage baskets in an old antique store's basement. I felt lucky about the found. I'll get some photos later! I shall catch up with you later!

W.I.P.

I am in vacation mode!

We are taking our little get away trip tomorrow ! Haven't pack anything, but needed to do so before heading to bed. I have a mini goal for tonight! I'd like to accomplish this mini quilt  before we leave tomorrow. I plan to bring it with me and hand-quilt it during our get away, it will be relaxing.

The colors are so vibrate! I am a little bit nervous about the colors! It is off my comfort zone! No computer for me for next few days.  We'll enjoy good food, good friends, and good sleeps! We plan to be outside most of the time if the weather permits! It will be fabulous! It will be awesome! We don't celebrate Easter in our family, but I wish you have a great Easter week-end!

Cheers!

Random: days after days

hi! were you visiting this space last few days? sorry, I was gone, but around! I was busy with school works and dealing with some jobs problems! Emotionally sadden and struggled! Well, all it taken care of! I am feeling free and ready to start fresh again! Thanks to great chair in our department!

I was playing with my new camera lenses over the weekend. It is a 200mm lenses and it allows me to take long distance shot! I really love it! My friend is getting marry this summer.  I am so ready to be her wedding photographer and take some fun photos for her! The wedding will be held in the beautiful country side in Iowa. It will be a wonderful get away when the summer comes! "Summer, come sooner".

As you can see, while mama was busy, the little girl decided to take over the table and make something amazing and fun! Which she did! I can't wait to photography her project! Normally... well actually always we fight for the table space! Guess who wins?

Stella wrote me Christmas music to remind me how wonderful Christmas is about! It is always about joy and happiness! She really knows how to cheer her mama up when her mama is feeling down! She also play the music on her piano for me.

These green plants help us survived the winter. They lighted up our dark winter apartment and they are keep growing and being healthy! The south window is a great place for them! Do you have any indoor plants that you talk to everyday? I do! I spend my morning coffee by the window each day and try to wake my mind up!

Quilts are washed and tucked in the found vintage wire basket!  Finally our couch is back to setting mode! I am thinking make a new picnic quilt for this summer! I am thinking Habitat . I am also thinking about another Swoon quilt! um.. too many things that I'd love to play around!

I played with the fabric that I cut off from the swoon quilt. Yes! The swoon  quilt top is done, but I need to find a good day to photography it. It turns out fabulous! Vibrate colors and fun background. I plan to send my swoon quilt to a professional long-arm quilter! Any of you have good long-arm quilter could suggested to me?

It looks like it is going to be another cooler week here! Stella and I have a big get away trip coming up. I might not be here much again this week! I try to accomplish as much work as possible, but my energy level is a bit low and I want it back so bad, so the trip will help me out a lot!

Have a great week~

Random: Friendship

I have been doing lots baking this week! My friend, Patrick is having his MFA exhibition reception tomorrow. I asked him what can I help him more. He said to me, " I would love to have some of your homemade cookies". I promised him I would make the kind that he likes and the kind that he loves ( I guess they are the same, but he loves sugar cookies the most).

Patrick is from Ghana and he does jewelry metal work and fiber weaving pieces. He left wife and young daughter in Ghana and came to U.S. to pursue his study. He has not visited home since he came three years ago and haven't seen the daughter in 3 years in person. It is not very easy!! It takes lots brave and good hopes.  We became closed friend since I started my MFA program. We both are far away from our families and we understand what it is like being in oversea. We talked a lot of the different culture meanings and lots conflicts. He is like an older brother of mine and always tells me, "You will be Fine".    I am so happy for him that he has completed his program of study and having a very successful exhibition!  All the three years hard work has paid off! Congrats, Mr. Patrick!

Random: One step a day

In case you came and this space is not renew for last couple of days. I am nearly finishing my spring cleaning. It is very hard for me to give away things. I have difficulty to give away things that I have had for sometimes, but the true is that I never use them or rarely use them. I decided to give away a few quilt tops that I made a few years back to a friend. She will be able to completed them into quilts. The Living room couch has been a storing table for last few days. Lots books, mini quilts and a pile of quilts. I received a few complains from Stella and I forgot to mention the floor has the swoon quilt top in progress.  I didn't finish the quilt top as I wished, but only three left, so I should be able to complete it sometimes this week?? { fingers crossed}

On Saturday,  I went and helped my grad colleague install his MFA exhibition all day. We didn't get home till 9p.m.  It was cold and the kind of the day that I forgot to bring my hot coffee with me! We ended up ran two supply trips in town. The exhibition is up running as of today and I think he is very excited and ready to {sleep} now. I am really fortunate to help him for his show; part of my job during the day is the gallery coordinator, so it was good that I can actually work with him and give suggestions.

I also managed to pieced two {Kerry's House}. My goal is 12 houses and make them into a small quilt. It will take me another few weeks to complete all the houses. The last house block I made was so much better and I enjoy it so much! It is a bit disappointed that I don't have many smaller prints fabric in the stash. I'd love to extended my fabric stashes into some smaller prints.

I am taking one step a day here, are you?
